General Description: The O2ptima CCR Rebreather came onto the market around 2004. The standard Heads Up Display ( HUD ) is called DIVA it is an easy to understand piece, enabling the diver to watch the Po2 at all times.

Type of Rebreather: CCR electronically controlled with three oxygen sensors but can be used manually with dilluent and oxygen inflators mounted on the counterlungs.

Number of handsets: Two hand set electronics easy to use menu with. The electronics are Hammerhead electronics from Juergenson Marine Inc.

Location of main electronics: The main electronics are located in the handsets.

Information displayed in the handsets: Full Decompression capability, time or depth information. The Po2 is displayed on the main default screens. Set points can be chosen ranging from Manual to 0.4, 0.7, 1.0, 1.1, 1.2, 1.3 and 1.4. with. Conservatism and algorithm can be chosen. 10 gases available and can be re-programmed underwater. Milli Volt readings available in the menu for sensor deterioration and oxygen calibration.

Heads Up Electronics: Rebreather has DIVA that works great.

Sensors: Three Teledyne sensor are used in the original manufacturer version. A wet sensor switches the unit on as soon as the unit enters the water.

Batteries: A single AA sized battery in each handset is used. Unit is switched on all the time and goes to sleep when not in use or batteries are not inserted in the unit.

Automatic Dilluent Valve ( ADV ): Comes in all units.

Tank size and mounting: Two 4 ltr / 27ft3 steel tanks inside the unit as onboard tanks feeding the unit with O2 and dilluent.

Recommended tank size: The factory steels or aluminum tanks.

Bail out design by manufacturer: A second stage can be mounted onto the manifold behind the divers head or a separate bail out tank must be used. A separate 30 cft or 40 cft alm tank is recommended. For more aggressive dive plans adjust bail out accordingly.

Set up of unit: The unit looks streamlined, is compact and user friendly.

Diveable weight: Around 35 kilos / 70 pounds with absorbent and depending on what size and material of onboard tanks was chosen.

Travel weight: Unit can be shipped and factory offers a hardcase box as well, OK choice for people who travel a lot.

Canister design: Unit can be dived only with Micropore cartridges.

Canister duration: Around 3 hours with Micropore cartridge.

Absorbent recommended: Micropore cartridge.

Counterlungs and position: Two over the shoulder counterlungs, made out of inner shell and outer denier material, around 5 ltr. capacity. The inhalation counterlung on the right side has one oxygen inflator connected to the oxygen tank. The exhalation counterlung on the left has the optional ADV inside the T-piece and the dilluent inflator, both connected to the dilluent tank. Overpressure valve located at the bottom of the lung. The gas flow and rotation is clock wise.

Flood recovery: Good flood recovery. Water trap in sides of canister.
